I’m not going to lie, I’m pretty set in my ways with hair and makeup. I love having dark hair, dark brows and mounds of eyeliner. Sometimes I branch out and test other brands, but my look is typically the same. Last week, however, I mixed it up a little, and it’s made a huge impact on my life. *dramatic, as usual*
I’m not sure if everyone can relate, but to me, my hair is totally different based on whatever part of the country I’m visiting. In Texas, it was just plain hot. I would tease my hair to the heavens and spray it down until my hairspray was pushing empty. Sometimes, when the air was still and my hair was a little dirty (don’t judge, it’s actually super healthy for your hair!), I would go without a weave and rock my short ‘do.
Since being in Chicago, the wind has my hair literally here, there and everywhere. I would come home for my lunch break and be like wait… I swear I did my hair this morning. One day, I finally decided to attempt something I’ve never dared to try… I went for the middle part. To my surprise, it was actually one of the best decisions I’ve made in months. Not only do I have to do minimal teasing to retain volume, but it feels SO good not to have my bangs dangling on my face or my hair un-gracefully “flowing” through the wind on the other side of my head.
My point – sometimes you have to try different looks to see what works for you! Never did I ever think I could do (semi) flat hair parted directly down the middle, but it’s saved me time and given me yet another look to play with!
Change it up and don’t ever get too comfortable with one look.
