Full transparency, scouting out locations for photos can be a pain in the butt. As much as I prefer the comfort of A/C and controlled elements indoors, taking photos outside always proves to be much easier. The lighting is more even, the space isn’t as confined and it usually takes less time to change up locations for another photo. When I started blogging, I realized Owensboro actually has a ton of gems I’d overlooked for years when it comes to backdrops.

BLUE OWENSBORO MURAL
Location: 215 E 2nd St, Owensboro, KY 42303
It’s no secret this is one of my favorite murals ever. It’s sprinkled throughout my feed and adds a fun pop of color when welcoming visitors as they enter Owensboro. My favorite artist and one of my best friends, Austin Casebolt, painted this before moving to New York for art school. We took pregnancy announcement photos here and I’m always finding a reason to pop over and do a photoshoot with this vibrant gem.
COCA COLA MURAL
Location: 210 Allen Street, Owensboro, KY 42303
Hop in your car and head a minute up the road for our next stop – the Coca Cola mural. This vintage wall is right in the mix with delicious restaurants, busy shops and a few other colorful murals! It’s a great area to park, go for a stroll and take photos if you’re looking to get your fix of sights unique to Owensboro.
RED FLORAL MURAL
Location – 101 W 3rd St, Owensboro, KY 42303
No need to put the car in drive – we are just a few feet away from the next stop. This floral mural is on the side of Simply Chic Home Accents and has a few other photo-worthy options, too. Be mindful it’s pretty sunny, so plan your photos later in the afternoon to avoid heavy shadows.
RAINBOW WALL
Location – 215 Locust St, Owensboro, KY 42301
If you’re ever wondering why so many of my winter photos dawn this rainbow backdrop, here’s your answer. Our next stop is one of my favorites because it’s colorful and protected from the elements! The rainbow mural is conveniently located on the first floor of the parking garage just minutes from our last location. Each of the stairwells have a solid colored wall (pictured above) that’s great for photos if you’re wearing a busy print. The best part?! Parking in the garage is free as long as you’re there less than 2 hours.
BLUE BRIDGE MURAL
Location – 800 W 2nd St, Owensboro, KY 42301
Last stop, just a few minutes up the road, is on the side of Brew Bridge restaurant and brewery. Owensboro is known for our big blue bridge, so this ode to our town is extra special. The brewery is photo-worthy itself, so stop in for a drink and snap a few pictures while you’re visiting.
