LIFE LESSONS AT 28

SIMILAR DRESS | SIMILAR HEELS | SIMILAR EARRINGS

Each year I slightly dread the thought of my birthday rolling around. After you pass 21, what’s the excitement in getting another year older? As I’ve grown into my *gasp* late 20’s, there are a handful of lessons I can confidently stand behind.

I had full intentions of sharing 28 of them for my 28th birthday, but y’all know I talk too much and that wouldn’t all fit in a post. 😂 Instead, I’m opting to share my top 8 life lessons in celebration of turning 28.

8 THINGS IVE LEARNED LEADING UP TO 28

1: The people that care will always show that they care.  You won’t ever have to question if they love you – you’ll know. On the flip side of that, remember to show your love and appreciation to the people that always show how much they care.

2: Your mental health impacts every aspect of your life. Prioritize it.

3: Having a different life timeline shouldn’t define your relationships. I have so many friends that are still single, don’t have children and get to make decisions on a whim.  Never let being at a different place in life be an excuse to lose friends. Your relationships will absolutely change as friends begin getting married, moving away, having children or take new jobs, but that should never define your relationship.

4: Wear what makes you feel great, no matter the season. Following “rules” on what to wear is dumb. Wear white after Labor Day, florals in December, glitter eyeshadow with sweats or heels to a BBQ if it makes you happy!

5: You aren’t allowed to tell someone how they should feel.

6: Find an accountability partner and don’t get frustrated when they actually hold you accountable.

7: Never stop making time for your girlfriends a priority. For the longest time I prioritized my dating life over friends. Guess what? You’re a much better partner, mother, friend and person when you give each of those relationships fair attention.

8: Stop gossiping. Ask yourself if what you’re about to say serves any positive purpose. When you spread hateful thoughts or opinions, it’s a much bigger reflection of you than the person you’re discussing.

*BONUS LESSON* There is no better gift you can give someone than your undivided presence. Put down your phone and fully engage with the person that’s taking time out of their day to be present with you!

I’m sure I’m not telling you anything you haven’t heard already, but I hope these were a helpful reminder. What are your favorite life lessons?? Sending you love!
