Crisp leaves and pumpkins on every porch can only mean one thing โ it’s fall here in Kentucky. If youโre anything like me, cooler temps somehow indicate itโs time to schedule a family photo session. While my boy crew typically gives a ton of pushback, I somehow wrangle everyone together for a few forced smiles in hopes of one useful Christmas card photo. Sound familiar?! Well, breathe a sigh of relief. Family sessions just got a lot more exciting, way less stressful and involve genuine belly laughs without a toddler tear in sight!

1:ย Easy Outfits:ย Let’s face it – hunting down coordinating outfits is a pain. Bouncing from store to store,ย not loving the fit or color flow once you get everything lined up, the list goes on. Melanie has a studio full of the most stunning pieces for the whole family. My favorite part was visiting her studio and playing dress up prior to our photo day. Every session includes an outfit coordinating, allowing you full access to Melanie’s stunning collection of clothing and accessories.ย

2: Location, Location: We have done most family photos outside, so I was over the moon to utilize Melanieโs studio! It was so nice not having to plan around weather, good lighting and to have the comfort of A/C while getting our photos. If outdoor photos are more your style, no worries. Melanie has a portfolio filled with gorgeous outdoor spots and hidden gems you may have overlooked.ย Itโs nice to know you have her studio as an option if the ever-changing Kentucky weather doesnโt permit for your outdoor session.ย
3: All Smiles Here: Walking into the studio with rambunctious toddlers, my first instinct is to say โdonโt touch that!โ or โstop running!โ Meanwhile, Melanie picks up her camera and makes these little moments a permanent memory. I feel an instant relief in realizing she isnโt stressed about getting my boys to sit in a picture-perfect pose or holding a forced smile. Instead, she allowed and encouraged them be themselves. โWe will get a few with everyone posed,โ Melanie said, โbut I want these photos to show who you all are and how you engage. Thatโs what you want to see hanging on the wall ten years from now โ their genuine toddler giggles and a moment full of love.โ
4: Experience Matters: All too often, Mario and I overlook getting photos of just us because weโre so consumed with getting great shots with our boys. Iโm extremely grateful we have a few pictures from our session of just us! Experience speaks volumes to what youโll have after a session with Melanie. Her years of capturing families in front of the camera makes for a roundup of content you would probably never think to capture on your own.
5: Showcasing Your Photos: Iโm guilty of getting stunning photos taken and letting them sit on a flash drive collecting dust. Melanieโs service is so great because she helps you hand select the best way to showcases your special pieces. The studio has tons of samples to view custom frames, various print sizes and top-quality selections for gifting. Itโs helpful to have your photographer guiding you through the start to finish process, from canvas sizes to photo placement. Her personalized books are one of my favorite ways to showcase your entire session!ย
